The August bank holiday weekend, can mean only one thing - JEEP FEST!
Jeep fest is the UK's, no sorry Europe's, largest Jeep show & off road weekend. It is organised by Mark Askew of Jeep World Magazine , and organised it is! Set in a 200 acre site with all the off road courses graded depending on their difficulty, their was something for everyone from the complete novices in unmodified jeeps, to the experts in their seriously modified and lifted Jeeps.
The great thing about the off-roading is that all the routes inter-twine, so if you are in an unmodified vehicle on a blue route (the easiest grade), you can still drive towards all of the black routes (the hardest grade), so you don't miss any of the action. Priced at £30 per Jeep per day (or £80 for the weekend (£60 if pre-booked)) some might find this a tad expensive, but to most Jeep owners it's only the price of a tank of fuel, and Jeeps like fuel! This price also included camping, and you do get a free goodie bag! Spectators were also welcome for £10 a car!
We went along to the event in the Jeep TJ WRANGLER.com a 4.0 litre Sport model with a 4" Pro-Comp Lift Kit, 33" Goodyear Wrangler All Terrain Tyres, ARB Locking Differentials, and we were more than ready for the black routes!
As Well as all of the off-roading taking place there was the Jeeps only car-park which contained 100's of Jeeps to look at. This was surrounded by Jeep accessory dealers and other trade stands, as well as a food and beverage marquee/entertainment tent. Free test drives were also being given in the latest Jeeps.
With competitions taking place for the 'Top Jeep' 2003 Awards, as well as numerous off-road competitions, there was definitely something for everyone! Will we go again?... ...we do every year!!!
The photographs taken over the weekend have been reduced to a couple of hundred! ...and if a picture tells a thousand words, we reckon that's two hundred thousand worth... ...so enjoy! |
