The Day after clinching its forth-consecutive F1 Constructor's crown in 2002, Ferrari announced its fastest-ever road car - the 220 mph Enzo Ferrari. It embodies the spirit, the looks and much of the technology developed by Ferrari for its Formula 1 cars. Named in memory of the company founder, it is the ultimate embodiment of the marque's passion for performance, technology and dramatic style.
The entire Enzo body is shaped to ensure optimum airflow for cooling, while generating unprecedented levels of grip-enhancing downforce with minimal aerodynamic drag. Under-car ground effects are so efficient that the large rear wing is not needed. The chassis and body panels are made entirely of composite materials.
The Enzo is powered by an ultra light 6.0-litre V12 engine, which has a number of unique technical features. Like an F1 car, smooth gear changes with the F1 transmission are entrusted entirely to an electro hydraulic system activated by the driver using paddles behind the steering wheel.
The Enzo is the world's first car with complete electronic integration of the control systems for all major components. The suspension uses horizontally mounted dampers, operated by push-rod links - like an F1 car. The innovative braking system on the Enzo is a world 'first'. The carbon-ceramic brake discs offer enormous stopping power and are manufactured by Brembo to a Ferrari specification, and engineered to last the life of the car.
