|Jeep TJ Wrangler being Fitted with New Rear Drum Brakes, Pistons & EBC Brake Shoes.|
Car: 1997 Jeep TJ Wrangler 4.0 Sport Soft Top
Colour: Lapis Blue
The front brake pads were being replaced with EBC Yellow Stuff brake pads, and so some EBC brake shoes were also ordered to replace the standard brake shoes on the rear brakes.
The rear drums had never been replaced previously and so new drums were also going to be fitted this time.
When the old drums were removed from the rear, it was immediately obvious one of the brake pistons was leaking a little, and so some new brake pistons were purchased.
By changing all the brakes with EBC pads and shoes, hopefully less brake dust will be created in future. The old brakes were making it difficult to keep the wheels clean. And although the wheels were cleaned when the new brakes were fitted, they still require a good clean and polishing to bring the shine right back. But that's something to do another day!
The Front Wheels were Choked, and the Rear of the Jeep was Jacked up and Supported on Axle Stands.

The Brake Shoe on the Left has Been Levered Out Slightly so that we Could take a Look at the Suspected Leaky Piston.
The Old Brake Shoes & Fittings Have Been Removed. The Piston is Bad & Will Require a Replacement.
The Old Brake Shoes Would be Worth Replacing.
The Brake Drums were the Originals and were Definitely Due for Replacement.
Both Sides of the Jeeps Rear Brakes were Being Done at the Same Time, while we were Waiting for the New Pistons.
Once we Knew the Correct Pistons Were in Stock Locally, We Removed the Old Pistons.

New Drums should Definitely Improve the Rear Braking (once Bedded in, after a Little Use.)
The New Drums Slotted on Very Easily, It's Always Easier when Fitting New Parts, than Trying to Refit Old Ones.
The New Brake Drums as Seen Through the Rear 5-Spoke Alloy Wheel. After this all the Brakes were Bled.
Even though the Wheels had been Cleaned & Polished a Little at this Stage, they Would Still Require a Lot more Cleaning and Polishing to Bring them Back up to a Much Better Standard. Hopefully Once they are Cleaned & Polished Properly, they will be Kept that Way! (For a Change!)
