How to Regas the Air Conditioning in your Car

When it comes to topping up your air conditioning on a regular basis, then it can start to get a little expensive, especially if you have several vehicles.

Having the cars topped up annually as part of the normal garage servicing, even at only around 50 a time was now beginning to add up!

This time we decided to save a little money by going down the DIY route.

Filling up the air conditioning this way - not only proved cheaper, but it was far easier to do than expected too.

The DIY method does not drain the old gas out of the system, then totally refill it, no, it is simply a top-up to the existing gas in the system.

On most occasions a top-up of the gas in the system is all that is needed though, and using this method is much better than having non-working air conditioning. Non-working air conditioning also puts extra stain on the compressor and other parts of the system.

Although only small, the refill bottle, usually contains enough R-134a refrigerant to use on 2 or 3 vehicles, depending on how often you use it and how much each vehicle requires to top it up.

We managed to get the air conditioning working again on 2 cars using this single bottle, and after purchase and return of the bottle for the returnable deposit (10), we had restored the air conditioning in each vehicle for under 20 each.

At this price, never again will we need to drive with faulty air con.
